What is Erectile Dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction (ED) occurs when a man experiences significant difficulty achieving or sustaining a penile erection. While some men are severely affected by erectile dysfunction, and are unable to achieve an erection at all, the majority of man have mild or moderate symptoms.

How Prevalent is Erectile Dysfunction?
Over 18 million adult men in Canada and the United States have some degree of erectile dysfunction. In fact, at least 40 percent of men over the age of 40 are affected.
Despite the prevalence of ED, only 10 percent of men affected by ED seek treatment. Of those who do seek treatment, up to 50 percent will discontinue treatment because they are too embarrassed to discuss their sexual health issues with their healthcare provider. The common belief that existing therapies are not effective can also impact the decision to not seek treatment.
